~Plot Synopsis~
Pierre, a Paris art student, marries Faith Cable, daughter of an aristocratic New England family,
against the wishes of her father, who forces her to abandon her husband. Faith dies, and Pierre
remains ignorant of the fact that before her death she gave birth to a son. Years later, as headwaiter
of the Ritz Hotel, Pierre meets three college boys and their girls during a New Year's celebration. In
his efforts to save one of them from a notorious gold digger, he discovers that the boy is his son. John
Cable warns Pierre that he will ruin the boy's life if he reveals the truth to him; but Pierre is
