~Plot Synopsis~
Frail hypochondriac Rufus Billop, borrows money from Messrs. Clinch, McIntosh, and Peck and
promises to repay them with the entire fortune he is to inherit in 3 years. To be certain that Rufus
stays alive the loan sharks hire a pretty nurse, Dolores Hicks, to take care of him. When Rufus
learns that Dolores prefers strong, courageous men, he throws himself into a series of dangerous
stunts to the consternation of his creditors. Finally, Dolores maneuvers a scheme by which Rufus
will repay only the principal of his loan if he lives until the end of his contract, and Rufus descends
from his flagpole perch to declare his love for Dolores.
