Based on the novel Timber by Harold Titus (Boston, 1922).
Retired lumberman Luke Taylor sends his reluctant son, John, to Michigan to clear a logjam. There he
meets and falls in love with Helen Foraker, who refuses to sell her acres of timber unless the buyer
promises to replant the trees. Both Luke and unscrupulous Jim Harris try to force her to sell without
agreeing to her conditions, and Harris starts a forest fire. After the fire is halted Luke agrees to
replant and gives the couple his blessing.
