~Biography~
Violet Avon was the too clever name bestowed upon this St. Louis girl, the sister of Universal star Laura
La Plante. The culprit was the Wampas Baby Star organization, who selected Violet a Baby Star of 1925
and foolishly attempted to conjure up an air of nonexistent Shakespearean expertise. She discarded the
lofty moniker right away and played leads in several low-budget Western melodramas, retiring from the
screen in 1928. "I can't think why she left," sister Laura stated in an interview in the '80s. "I guess she just
got married." According to some reports, Violet La Plante later worked as a secretary and receptionist.
