A discovery of stage impresario David Belasco, silent screen leading man Ralph Kellard had
appeared opposite legendary stage star David Warfield prior to operating his own stock company.
On Broadway, Kellard starred in the original productions of The Warrens of Virginia, Rebecca of
Sunnybrook Farm, and Eyes of Youth, moonlighting in films whenever he found the time. Onscreen,
Kellard played a dual role in Her Mother's Secret (1914), and was Grace Darmond's leading man in
The Shielding Shadow (1916) and Pearl White's in Pearl of the Army (1916). Both were Pathé serials
but neither was among the company's best and Kellard is not well remembered as a cliffhanger lead.
He was also in A Scream in the Night (1919), in which he falls in love with a jungle girl (Ruth Budd).
Kellard continued to do the occasional movie role through the 1920s and even turned up in at least
